Duck!

Duck hunting was a major draw for the Moriches / Mastic Bay Area going back to the 19th century. Even before the commercial duck farms there were “market gunners”. I don’t know if Moss Lots builder William Buck Dana (1829-1910) did much duck hunting, but if not his grandson William S. Dana certainly made up for it with as much enthusiam as his neighbor Knapp. Bill Dana went as far as having his own private island built out in the bay for it in the 1920’s.

This guy gets my vote for being Clarence. He looks like he knows his stuff.

Clarence was the guy who supplied all the test seagulls for L. W. Bonney
