Ken, I so enjoy your site, and have learned about my distant relatives at the manor of st george from it. of course eugenie t, smith was not the last of the direct line of tangier smiths, as general john married 2 more times. the last time to elizabeth woodhull in 1792. their son egbert t. smith came to california in 1850. i have never been to mastic but look forward to it one day. thank you for introducing the knapps to your readers. i too have gotten swept up in historical things,houses,families etc. i recently paid to have the 1892 grave of my great times 4 grandfather egbert tangier smith refurbished in napa ca. my husband wants to know why i want to spend money on the long dead. to preserve history i say. sincerely,barbara |
