I never realized you were into history and genealogy. I have been playing with it for over 40 years. You may know that I copied many of the old cemeteries back in the 1970s. I will try and compare notes with what you have. A quick look at the genealogy section and i found that you have the David Carter of Brookhaven listed as in the Carter Cemetery in Manorville. His stone was originally in the Hawkins (Nathaniel I think) cemetery south of Montauk Highway when I copied the stones. Several years later my son-in-law was hunting there and found the cemetery. He said all the stones were broken except for David Carters. He carried the stone to his truck and gave it to me. I had it in my back yard until I was moving to Las Vegas in 1997. I spoke with David Overton and told him I was going to put it in the Carter cemetery in Manorville next to his parents and that is where it was the last time was there His wife is buried in Soundview Cemetery in Mt. Sinai. Love to compare notes with you on the cemeteries or on genealogy Nate Carter I am living in Riverhead now. | |
