| Text | Hello John, Yes, I took that photo. The stone is in not great shape and the light was also problematic late in the afternoon, which is the time of day when that was taken last April. There is a family plot, in Edna’s notes as the William Barteau plot, and while I can’t recall exactly where it is, other than generally on the right side of the cemetery, midway down, the attached photo of the larger marker for the site should make it easy for you to find. Sarah Overton (Francis’ wife) is also here, as is Hannah Hawkins Barteau, Gussie Barteau (actually not Wm Barteau’s daughter, but that’s another story), Anna Barteau Shepard, and her husband, Charles Herbert Shepard. William Barteau is buried under headstone of his infant son, Lucian, and there was some family debate as to why his wife, Hannah, did this. Hugh | |
