      MYLES WEIR REA
      Myles Weir Read, a former merchandise manager for B. Altman & Company, died Sunday of a heart attack at his home in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He was 80 years old.
      Mr Read was associated with Altman's for 37 years, retiring as merchandise manager in 1962. In 1963, he became a vice president of Werner Store, a California chain. In recent years, Mr. Read had been a consultant in the shoe field, working with department stores and manufacturers.
      Mr. Read served in World War I as an aviator and was a past commander of American Legion Post 1048.
      He was a direct descendant of Myles Standish.
      He is survived by his wife, Gerda; two daughters, Priscilla Peak of Malibu, Calif., and Georgiana Batten of Weyland, Mass., and a son, Philip Read of Brookhaven, L.I., New York City and Palm Beach, Fla.
