Black Rock, Buffalo, Erie, NY

Notes:
In the early 19th century, Black Rock was an independent community on the banks of the Niagara River in what is now northeast Buffalo, NY. It was a rival to the City of Buffalo for the harbor terminus of the Erie Canal, but Buffalo's larger harbor and more convenient access for Great Lakes shipping vessels, eventually won out. In 1839 it was incorporated as a Town. In 1853 it was annexed by the City of Buffalo.
