8. Benjamin Alfred Brown, born Sept 6, 1844; died 1908; m. Emma F. Gordon, dau. of Sylvestor Gordon by his 1st wife, Charlotte Smith of Patchogue {1854-1904}.
Children:
1. Charlotte (1873) married George Tuttle of Eastport, L.I. They had five children—Leland, Effie, Veela, Oscar, Eunice.
2. Harriet {1875-1945} married George Pierman of Bellport, L.I. They had four children—Margie, George, Elizabeth, and Stanley.
3. Clara {1878-1920} married William Risley of Brookhaven, L.I. They had three daughters—Evelyn, Frances, and Eleanor.
4. George {1883-1937} married Leila Penny, widow of Clarence Foster. They had one son.
5. Arthur (1885) married Edith Conklin. One son—Samuel.
6. Oliver (1891) married Anna Hanlyn, a distant cousin who is a descendent of George Brown, brother of Benjamin Brown. Three daughters—Bertha, Helen, and Ollie.
7. Everett Samuel {1893-1986} (Aug. 5, 1893) married Hazel {Searles} {1893-1973} of Connecticut in March 1913. They had five children, Kenneth, Lorraine, Shirley, Richard, and Robert.
8. Winfield (1896) married Ella Barry. Three Daughters—Emma, Gladys, Winifred.

Alfred Benjamin Brown, b. in Brookhaven Village then called Fire Place, Sept 7, 1808; d. Feb 16, 1895. Buried in Bellport Cemetery. Resident of Fire Place and Bellport; was a small but wiry man. Owned house bought of his brother, Samuel; then sold it to the Osborns who bought and gave it as a parsonage for the Bellport Presbyterian Church. The house was later moved a couple or so hundred feet south and a new house, the so-called parsonage, built on the site. The house was Alfred Browns early home after his marriage and is now owned by Mrs. Charles Marvin of Bellport. {Wife Eliza 1846-1896}

1. Dorothy Ann, b. June 25, 1837; d. Dec 10, 1862.
2. Mary Catherine, b. May 28, 1839; m. Jan 4, 1860, David Conklin of Patchogue, carpenter.
3. Henrietta Albinah, b. March 9, 1842. M. William Conklin of Patchogue, carpenter.
Note: David and William William Conklin were brothers. They built the Episcopal Church in Brookhaven Village and other local buildings.

5. Mary Louisa, b. July 24, 1846. M. Apr. 20, 1865, John LeGrand Kitcham.

7. Justina Gertrude, b. Apr. 12, 1850. No further record.
8.Theodore Leverett, b. March 18, 1852; d. Nov. 1937. M. 1st, Ida L. Cochrane of Patchogue, by whom there was a large family, most of them live in Bellport and Brookhaven. M. 2nd, Susan Rose, widow of John Rose and dau. of Mills Clark. No chldren by second wife.
9. Eva Frances, b. March 9, 1854. No further record.
10. Orlando Bennett Samuel, b. March 1, 1854; d. June 14, 1868. Was riding a horse while his father was cultivating corn. He fell off, but his foot was caught in the stirrup. The horse ran away, dragging him and killing him by his head being knocked against the culvator.
11. Sarah Adelaide, b. July 1860. No further record.
* This account is ambiguous. Note that just previous it was indicated that Hannah Kinge was his wife, daughter of William and Dorothy Kinge. Perhaps these are typographical errors. No source has been found that indicates that he had a second wife, Dorothy.
** The John Tutthill to whom Richard entrusted his family and estate was not the John Tutthill described here, but rather a neighbor and friend, John Tutthill [i]; this John's wife Deliverance Kinge was a sibling to Hannah Kinge, Richard's wife. A John Tutthill does marry into the family, marrying Richard's granddaughter Elizabeth by his son Jonathan. This John Tutthill [iii] was John Tutthill's [i] grandson.
