She included the following note, which has not been verified:
Stephen Richard Austin is listed as living at home with his widowed mother, Eliza, on the 1920 Federal Census for Sussex, Deleware. His spouse is listed as Mary. They are 65 and 64 years old. Mary's brothier is living with them.
The following notes were written by Steve Henderson:
Stephen was with his parents in Copiague in I860. He lived in East Amityville, near where he was born in 1854. He attended the district school and later went to a select school.4 In 1870 he lived with his parents on the family farm and was engaged in farming. He started working at 17 as a woodworker. In 1880 Stephen and his mother lived together, probably on the family farm in Copiague. When his elder brother [Thomas Harvey] opened a blacksmith shop, he did the woodwork. Later he was able to build a shop next to his brother's. He was a wheelwright.
Stephen was a Republican and was elected several times as a delegate to party conventions. He supported Tilden in 1876, but supported Gen. Garfield in 1880. He was a charter member of the New Point Lodge No.677,1.O.O.F. and served as Treasurer of the local organization from its beginning until July 1895.

Eliza Hulse was married by Rev. George Tomlinson to Daniel Austin on 15 February 1843 in Fire Place, Brookhaven Town.3 She was with Daniel in Copiague in 18505, I8601', and 1870 when she was listed as keeping house.12 Lavenia Hulse (age 44 in I860" and age 50 in I86012) was living with them. She was probably a sister of Eliza. In 1860 Lavenia was listed as a tailoress11 and in 1870 was listed as having no occupation.12 In 1880 Eliza was living with her son Stephen in the Town of Babylon.16 This was probably the family farm in Copiague.
