Capt John Mott, who resided for many years in West Sayville, but has been living with relatives in Babylon, died there on Sunday last at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward J. Udall, in the 91st year of his age. According to the Brooklyn Times he was the oldest make resident of Babylon village and had enjoyed his usual robust health until a few days before his death. Capt Mott was born in Canaan, Conn. His father was Smith Mott and his mother Sarah Robinson, of Philadelphia. Until he retired a few years ago, Capt. Mott led a very active live. He was for many years captain of vessels plying between South Bay ports and New Yor, and had many thrilling experiences. He possessed a very jovial disposition and a memory that wen back more than eighty years. He was a widower and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. J. Udall and Mrs. Sidney T. Brown, of Babylon. The funeral took place on Tuesday morning from his late home and the remains were brought to Sayville for interment.
