Horatio Ogden Nelson, aged 78, died Tuesday at his home on Beaver Dam road Brookhaven. Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Brookhaven for 13 years.
Mr. Nelson, who operated a collection agency in Brookhaven in recent years, formerly was associated for nearly 50 years with the Wall Rope works of New York, which he served as secretary.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Charlotte A. Nelson of Brookhaven; two daughters, Mrs Emily N. Maxwell of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Beatrice B. Rosenquest of South Orange, N.J.; three brothers, Norman F. Nelson, Desmond Nelson, both of Brookhaven, and Allan Nelson of Florida, and five grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 12:30 p.m. today in the St. James Episcopal church, Brookhaven, the Rev. Howard Clark, rector, officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Alfred and Emily were married 21 August 1860 at St. Thomas Church, Ravenswood, Queens, Long Island by the Rev S.W, Sayres. Witness: William Nelson, father of Alfred. The Holy Bible, London ca. 1856, was a wedding present given to Emily by her God-mother, Mary Grace Raoul, daughter of Mary Fairlie (her aunt) and Thomas Abthorpe Cooper.
