Her father, Charles Sperry Andrews wanted to make a trip abroad with Alice's brothers Sperry and David (the youngest, Florie, was to be left in the care of her nurse). The story goes that arrangements were made in rather a hurry so that "CS" could make his trip. A garden wedding, Easter Lilies planted in the garden (in full bloom in July!).
