August L. Stark, aged 81, a summer resident of Brookhaven, died Saturday at the Midwood hospital, Brooklyn. His home was at 311 East Fifth street, Brooklyn.
Mr. Starke, who inherited a spike manufacturing company from his father, later went into the manufacture of plastics, and was president of the Insulation Manufacturing company of Brooklyn at the time of his death. He and his brother Charles, bought property in Brookhaven about 50 years ago, and both built houses there. At one time, Mr. Starke was one of the foremost sailing enthusiasts of the area.
The Charles Starke house burned to the ground several years ago. The August Starke home is now occupied by his son, Robert W. and his family.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ethel L. Starke; four sons, August L., Jr. of Long Beach, C. Newell of Amityville, George W. of Oakdale, and Robert W. of Brookhaven; a brother Charles, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Nisse.
Services were held Monday at the Fairchild Funeral chapel in Brooklyn.

Their marriage date was estimated based on the assumption that this was Ethel's first marriage. Her age was given as 32, her first marriage was given as age 23, therefore the marriage date would have been abt. 1921.
