Suffolk County News, 6 Sep 1907: "Mrs. Clarissa Hawkins died at her late home at Hauppauge on Tuesday, aged about 80 years. She was twice married, her first husband being Buel Barteau, by whom they had two sons. Her second husband was Bartlett Hawkins, by whom she had three sons and one daughter. The deceased was a daughter of the late Daniel Haff, of Sayville and a sister Mrs. Harriet Carpenter, of this place, who is now the only surviving member of that family. The funeral was held today from the home of her son, Emmett Hawkins at South Haven."
