The Fireplace Literary Club will hold their regular program meeting Thursday at the library [in Brookhaven hamlet]. Mrs. Frank Barteau will be the speaker and will tell of her trip to and from Canada. Mrs. Barteau kept a log as she traveled and enjoyed visiting historical houses and forts and has many interesting pictures and souvenirs, which she will exhibit.

Among some of the most interesting exhibits will be a brick from the fireplace of the famous old Fort Crailo, said to be the oldest house in New York State, also some hand-made lathes from the walls in the upper rooms. It was here that "Yankee Doodle" was composed by R. Shucksburg near the old well in the rear.
It is likely that the person referenced in this quotation is Frank Wilson Barteau's wife.
