Mrs. Amelia Osborne, for 17 years a resident of Sayville, while she made her home with her only child, Mrs. John Homan, died about 7:30 o'clock on Sunday morning at the Homan home on Green avenue.
Mrs. Osborne had been in a critical condition following a fall on Friday, September 30th, when she tripped near the foot of the stairway and broke her right hip. Because of her advanced years, pneumonia developed and unremitting care on the part of her devoted daughter, doctor and nurse were unavailing.
Mrs. Osborne was born 87 years ago the first of August on what was known as Nicoll's Patent, in Oakdale, at present part of the Bourne estate. She was a daughter of Silas Carman and Deborah Seamon Edwards. When quite young, she went to Bellport and lived in Bellport and Brookhaven until her marriage to William Osborne. From that time she lived in South Haven until she came to Sayville to make her home. She was a devout member of the South Haven Presbyterian Church, having been a communicant there for a longer term of years than any other member.
The pastor of the church, the Rev. F. E. Allen, officiated at the funeral services in the Homan home at 2:30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Allen was assisted by the Rev. W. T. Edds, pastor of the Sayville Congregational Church and the interment was in the Union Cemetery here, beside the body of her husband.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Osborne is survived by one grandson, Carroll Homan.
