  He settled in Blooming Grove, NY about 1743, Accompanied by his brother Henry, who settled in Blooming Grove, NY. Samuel was a Pvt. in the Ulster Co. Militia, 2nd Regiment. He was one of the original Patentees of the Town of New Windsor in 1751, and a member of the Provincial Convention of NY, and Chairman of the Committee of Safety of New Windsor.
