JAMES CLIFFORD WOODHULL, ninth generation from Richard Wodhull I., Patentee of Brookhaven, Long Island, was the eldest son of Clifford Arms Woodhull and Martha Frances Johnson. He was born at Newark, New Jersey, May 27, 1869.
He received his education in the Public Schools of Newark, and began his business career at the age of seventeen in New York City.
In 1890 he connected himself with the then newly organized Selling Agency of the Washington Mills Company, and remained with this Company until the formation of the American Woolen Company in 1898, when he became its sole Selling Agent.
He married, September 27, 1898, Charlotte Althea Hewitt, of Redwing, Minnesota.
