Jeptha Avery married Sarah A. Gibson, whom he met at Paris in France. She was the daughter of John H. Gibson, a wealthy gentleman of London. He ranked high in birth and influence, being an English Barrister, and a Notary Public, and at one time refused the office of Mayor of London. Her mother was a near relation of the Douglasses of Douglass Castle, Scotland. They have had fourteen children, and the family resides at South Haven, Suffolk Co., L. I. Mr. W. is an inventor, and is at present in London, England, superintending his great Printing Press, the most remarkable invention in the world.
