Family Record of John Rose of Long Island: This family record was found in by Bernice Weir of Huntington, Long Island, when she was helping Sister Eileen Cleater, former head of Trocair, a Catholic organization. They had been willed the contents of an old home (that of Marie M. Baddetty who died at 105). While dusting a new Bible, photocopies from an old Bible fell out, and are here presented.

I think it is possible for “John W. Rose” to be the grandson of “Senator” John Rose.
I haven’t found any proof that this is the case. It is a supposition based on the context in which the entry occurs.
The entry is on the page on which “Hannah Rose our first child . . .” is written.
So the writer must have been Elizabeth Rose, daughter of Rev. David Rose and wife of “Senator” John Rose. [It couldn’t be her husband as some of the entries refer to dates after Senator Rose died.]
The first four pages of entries: “Marriages,”“Births,” “Births 2,” and “Deaths” include only dates that were within the lifetime of Elizabeth (Rose) Rose.
The last page, “Death 2,” had to be entered by someone else, or by others.
The entry for “John W. Rose” appears on the first “Births” page where the writer has listed, first, all the children of Senator John and Elizabeth Rose: Hannah, Betsey, Caty, Thomas, Harriet, John Jr., William, David, and Mulford.
One might then expect to see the birthdates of Elizabeth’s grandchildren, and that is what we appear to have:
John W., son of John and Ann Eliza; Marcy C.?, daughter of William and EvelineA., and Emily.
I suppose Elizabeth didn’t list the children of Betsey, Caty, and Harriet because they were not male, so the surname of their children was not “Rose.”
Thomas and David died at young ages and had no children. Mulford’s oldest child was born after his mother had died.
So I think John W. is the son of John Jr.
“Senator” John Rose had a son named “John Rose Junr” born 23 Feb 1804.
This “John” could have married an “Ann Eliza.”
Then on 08 Jun 1826,”John and Ann Eliza Rose”could have been the parents of “John W. Rose.”
John Rose Junr then died on 04 July 1830, aged 26 years 4 months and 11 days.
His son, John W. Rose, would have then inherited.
He may be the same “John W. Rose” who sold land to Lewis Hawkins.
