Valentine J. Keene passed away Sunday morning at Cedarcrest Sanitarium in Hartford, Conn. Mr. Keene had been an invalid for quite a time but his condition had apparently bdeen improved the past week. When in good health Mr. Keene was an active musician and played the leading part in "Tom Brown of Hartford" for years. He was employed as a certified public accountant by Davenport & Co. of New Haven, Conn., before entering Cedarcrest.
Mr. Keen had several poems published, among them being "Taking the Cure," Sleepy Hollow Farm" and the "Wonderful Music of T-2" which cheered so many city people. He will be greatly missed by the staff at Cedarcrest. He was a brother of Mrs. Fred Swezey and Mrs. Franklin Barteau of Brookhaven.
While the obituary in the Patchogue Advance indicated that Valentine "was a brother of Mrs. Fred Swezey and Mrs. Frank Barteau," other sources suggest that he was their father.
