Benson Smith, died at her home on Terry street Wednesday forenoon at the age of 73. She suffered a stroke a year ago last July and had been ill the greater part of the time since and had been in serious condition for several weeks. She was born in Port Jefferson but had lived in Patchogue for the past 50 years, her husband conducting a wagon- and boat-building shop. She leaves her husband, two sons, H. Nelson Smith of Riverhead and Benson D. Smith of Brookhaven, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Dayton of Port Jefferson. The funeral is being held this afternoon at 2 0'clock from Ruland's funeral chapel, the John Robert Gee of the Congregational church officiating, with interment in Cedar Grove cemetery.
