Mrs. Alice M. Smith, wife of H. Benson Smith, died at her home on Terry street Wednesday forenoon at the age of 73. She suffered a stroke a year ago last July and had been ill the greater part of the time since and had been in serious condition for several weeks. She was born in Port Jefferson but had lived in Patchogue for the past 50 years, her husband conducting a wagon- and boat-building shop.
She leaves her husband, two sons, H. Nelson Smith of Riverhead and Benson D. Smith of Brookhaven, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Dayton of Port Jefferson. The funeral is being held this afternoon at 2 0'clock from Ruland's funeral chapel, the John Robert Gee of the Congregational church officiating, with interment in Cedar Grove cemetery.

H. Nelson Smith, 69, a former resident of East Patchogue, died February 17 at Central Suffolk hospital in Riverhead, where he had lived for many years.
Mr. Smith, who conducted a plumbing and heating business in Riverhead, was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge there and an exempt fireman. His home was at 132 Union avenue.
He was born in East Patchogue, the son of the late Benson Smith and Alice Petty Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothea Gardner Smith; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Dusenbury of Riverhead and Mrs. Betty Tyler of Mattituck; a brother, Bensdon C. Smith of Orange, Tex., and three grandchildren.
Services were conducted last Thursday by the Rev. Arthur C. Brown, pastor of the Riverhead Methodist church and burial was in Riverhead cemetery.
