Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Corrigan of Brookhaven announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Jane Corrigan, to Vernon A. O'Rourke, Ph. D., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William O;Rourke od Detroit, Mich., and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Renaud of Canada.
Miss Corrigan attended Friend's academy of Locust Valley and was graduated from Chatham hall, Chatham, Va., in 1932. Dr. O'Rourke was graduated from Johns Hopkins university Graduate school in 1931 and is now a professor of economics at St. John's university in Brooklyn. In 1932 he was chosen as one of the outstanding students of the country and was sent abroad to study international relations at the Geneva peace conference. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Sigma.
The wedding will probably take place in June and the couple plan to make their home in New York. Announcement of the engagement was made Tuesday evening at a buffet supper given by Mr. and Mrs. Corrigan at their home. The guests included Mrs. Carl Schmidt of Chicago, Harold F. Sylvester of Baltimore, Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Smith of Plandome, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar C. Earle of Great Neck, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Law of Queens Village, Mr. and Mrs. E. Elmer Spedick and Miss Carol Spedick of Garden City, John Austin of New York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Borthwick.
