Victor Polonski, 83, of 415 East Main street, Patchogue, died Sunday at the Suffolk home, Yaphank, after an extended illness.
Mr. Polonski was born in Russia and came to this vicinity about 12 year ago. Prior to his illness he owned and operated a grocery store on Bay avenue.
He is survived by a daughter, Mr. Ann Simpson of Bellport; two sons, Victor Polonski, Jr., of Patchogue and Joseph Polonski, who is serving with the Army in Korea, and four grandchildren.
The body reposed at the Pettit Funeral home, Patchogue, until yesterday, when funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal church, Bellport, with the Rev. Frederick Chapman, rector, officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn cemetery, Brookhaven.
[The address given in his obituary was the same as the address for the restaurant, the East End Tavern, operated by his son Victor and daughter-in-law Gladys, suggesting that he may have been living in an apartment above the store.]
