Miss Carol Osterhout, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Osterhout of Beaver Dam Road, Brookhaven, became the bride of David Alan Eckerman at 2 p.m. Saturday in The Old South Haven Church in Brookhaven. Mr. Eckerman is the son of Mrs. Harold D. Eckerman and the late Harold D. Eckerman of Williamsville. The Rev. Charles Kellogg officiated at the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk linen, edged with venetian lace. Her shoulder-length veil was attached to a pillbox of silk linen and lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids, stephanotis and ivy.
Miss Julie Garland of Boston, Mass., was maid-of-honor. The best man was Richard Eckerman, brother of the bridegroom. William Osterhout, Jr., brother of the bride, and Russell Allen of Des Moines, Iowa, a cousin of the bride, were ushers.
Following the ceremony, a reception for 50 guests was held in the garden of the bride's home.
The bride is a graduate of The College of Wooster where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In September she will commence her second year of graduate study in psychology at Columbia University under a National Science Foundation Fellowship.
The bridegroom, a graduate of Hamilton College, is a research assistant at Columbia University where he is a candidate for a Doctor's degree in Psychology.
The couple will reside at 560 Riverside Drive, New York City.
Harold D. Eckerman was deceased at the time of his son David's marriage to Carol Osterhout.
