      William Engelhardt, 85, formerly a Brookhaven resident, passed away Aug. 25. Mr. Engelhardt was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Brookhaven Fire Department and the retired owner of Brahma Backhoe Service in East Moriches. He is survived by his wife, Cilia Engelhardt; his son Michael and fiancée, Sharon; his step-daughter, Evelyn Hidalgo and husband, Brian; his sister, Joan Moreland; his sister-in-law, Anna Engelhardt; his grandsons, Craig and wife, Anna, Thomas, Gabriel and Julian; his great-grandson, Liam; his nieces, Nancy Kreppein and husband, Peter, and Susan Brigham and husband, Charles; his nephew David Moreland; and by his great-nephew, Peter M. Kreppein.
      Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Oakey’s Funeral Service & Crematory in Roanoke, Va. Interment took place in Oaklawn Cemetery in Brookhaven.
