  "Robert was a farmer and lived in Yaphank. He was called 'Blind Robert' as he became blind in his old age from being salovated (sic) with an overdose of calomel. He lived in the old house still standing in 1933 at the head of Yaphank Avenue where it meets the main road through Yaphank*. He was very well-to-do even in present day terms (1939)."
