      Israel served during the French and Indian War every year from 1760 through 1764 and during the Revolution in 1775 and 1777 through 1781. Before the Revolution he lived in New Haven and Wallingford; after in Southington. He served in the French and Indian War, from Mar to Nov 1760 in Capt. Joel Clark’s 11th Co., 2nd Regt.; from Apr to Nov 1761 in Col. Nathan Whiting’s 1st Co., 2nd Regt.; from Mar to Nov 1762 in Capt. Eldad Lewis’s 7th Co., 2nd Regt.; and from Mar to Dec 1764 in Capt. Abraham Foote’s 2nd Co., Lieut.-Col. Putnam’s Battalion. In the Revolutionary War, he served in Capt. Isaac Cook’s Wallingford Co., 1775; was in the Conn. Line between 1777 and 1781, residence stated as New Haven. He was named as an artificer, and in a list of married soldiers about 1780.
