Dates don't match but the John SULLIVAN below did have an eldest son Daniel (Irish naming tradition suggests that "Daniel" was John's father's name). I have no direct connection but my g-grandfather, Daniel Cary Sullivan, was born in Bantry about 1844 and eventually emigrated to Orleans County NY. Sullivan/ O'Sullivan is an extremely common name in that western coast of County Cork.
Reference: St. Patrick's R. C. Parish, Parnell, Michigan; 1844-1994 published in 1996 Page 131 "John Sullivan (1812-1894)was a native of Bantry, County Cork, Ireland. He left Ireland in 1836, and by 1843 he worked his way to Section 31 of Grattan Township. He married Johanna SCANLON (1830-1880), {Page 130} a daughter of Morris and Mary {FERRIS} Scanlon, and they raised seven children: Daniel, Bridget, John, James, Patrick, Joseph, Ellen, and Michael Francis. The Sullivans at one time owned all the land where St. Patrick's church, rectory, and school now are located." Parish address is 4351 Parnell Ave NE, Ada MI 49301-9746 (616)691-8541

Thanks for your reply. My Gr. Grandfather, George SULLIVAN, was born Mar. 1848, Ireland, died 03 May 1896, Grand Rapids, Kent Co. MI., bur. St. Andrew's Cemetery, Grand Rapids. His wife, Catherine BURKE, b. Jan. 1855, Ireland, d. 03 Mar. 1913, bur. St. Andrew's Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
Their 6 children,James Joseph, Patrick Henry, Mary Ann, Catherine Johanna, George Francis, & Alexander Emmett, were all born in Grand Rapids. For 30 years I have been trying to find the Irish County of the birth of George SULLIVAN & Catherine Burke.
George Sullivan had a sister, Elizabeth "Bessie" SULLIVAN who married John FERGUSON in Grand Rapids. Elizabeth "Bessie" SULLIVAN b. Aug. 1862, Ireland, died 17 Oct. 1908, Grand Rapids, bur. St. Andrew's Cemetery, Grand Rapids. "Bessie's" Certificate of Death states her father's name as John SULLIVAN b. Ireland, mother's maiden name "unknown".
I am pursuing every avenue of research in trying to determine the Irish County from whence these SULLIVAN'S originated.
Pat O'Sullivan Corona
