Mr. John C. Zant, aged 67, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Holland Home Hospice after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary (Rosie): children, Colleen (Marc) Kole, Maureen (Rich) Jones, John Jr. (Shelly), Steven (Carrrie); grandchildren, Katie, Erin, Megan, Hope, Ryan, Ben and Owen; his brothers and sisters, Sue (Jim) Fodor, Mike (Pam) Zant, Rudy (Nancy) Zant, Mary (Ron) Theile, Dennis (Kathy) Zant; brother-in-law, Jim (Tammy) Hickey and sister-in-law, Maureen (Pat) Maher; nieces, nephews and many friends. John was owner of VanderBroek Roofing, Inc., for 32 years. He was a loving husband and father. John was a giving person of his time, energy and friendship. He was incredibly generous and supported many charities including Multiple Sclerosis, the new Richard Lacks Sr. Cancer Center at St. Mary’s Hospital, and the Grand Rapids Catholic Schools. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, (please meet at the church). Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Patient Information Library, Richard J. Lacks Sr., St. Mary’s Hospital, c/o Dan Sherman, 200 Jefferson SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The Zant family would like to extend special thanks for the tender care given by the Oncology and Radiation Departments, nurses and doctors at St. Mary’s Mercy Medical Center and Holland Home Hospice.
