Edward Sagar, also spelled Segar and Sager.
The 1830 census of Tully, Onondaga County, New York (Roll: M19_100, page: 324) has Edward Sager with one male of five and under ten, one ten and under 15, and one 40 and under 50. There is one female five and under ten, one ten and under 15 and one 30 and under 40. The ages fit with Edward and Angeline’s and their known children. On the same page are Samuel and John Patten.
Edward Sager was first taxed in Iosco Township in 1846. He was living in section 17 of the township. This was also the first year a Wm. H. Simmons was taxed, living in section 9. See History of Livingston Co., Michigan, Philadelphia: Everts & Abbott, 1880, page 260.
1850 Handy Township, Livingston County, Michigan census shows Edward as 69 years old, a farmer with $100 worth of real estate, and his birthplace is unknown. Betsey is 60 and was born in Canada. Elenor is 17 and was born in New York.
An 1856 Livingston County Marriage license for Enoch Smith, 41, of White Oak Township, Ingham County to Sarah Wright, 22, of Unadilla Township, Livingston County indicates they were married on 1 October 1856 by Ara Smithy J. P. Marion Segar and Harriet Smith were witnesses.
