WILLIAM HALLOCK. P.5. Peter. Jr., 4. Peter 3.
Was son of Peter, Jr., and Mary-Hallock. Was born 1741 at Southold, and died Nov. 18, 1794, at Aquebogue, L.I. Married Miriam, in 1761. She was born 1745 and died March 5, 1787. William and Miriam were baptized at Mattituck Presbyterian Church May 24, 1767. Children:
      1. Patience-Corwin, born 1762. 2. William, born 1766. 3. Hannah-Corwin, born 1768. 4. Benjamin, born 1772. 5. Catherine-Corwin, born 1774. 6. Benjamin, 2d, born 1776. 7. Lydia-Cook, born 1777. 8. Samuel, born 1780. 9. Mary H.-Bernard, born 1782.
William and Miriam appear to have lived first in Southampton, L.I. They soon moved to Old Aquebogue and spent the remainder of their lives there. Their graves are in the Jamesport cemetery. His business was farming.
This William is sometimes spoken of as "William of Southampton." Charles Hallock mistakes him for William, the father of Rev. Moses and Rev. Jeremiah. See p. 41, "Hallock Ancestry." He is also called William, Sr., in Mathers Refuges, p. 1202, and is wrongly made father of Rev. Moses on page 379. He served in Josiah Smith's Regiment. See "Revolutionary Record" [this volume].
