Mr. Hedges had lived in Brookhaven many years, and was well known as a boat-builder and ship carpenter. He was born in East Haddam, Conn. He worked with Webb at ship-building in the forties, and was sent to Florida to select suitable live oak for the United States warships of those days. He leaves a widow and one son, Frederic Hedges.
