  [It is not proved that the Betsey Woodruff indicated by some sources as the wife of George Brown and the Elizabeth Woodruff named in the will of Matthew Woodruff as a daughter are the same person, but it seems sufficiently likely that I have so recorded it here, primarily based on the evidence of her birth dates and residence. If her birth date is as recorded here, she would not have been yet eighteen at the time of her father's death, which is more or less consistent with the terms of Matthew's will.]
