    • He never married.

Letter from Karen Rowley to Claire Burnett, who presently lives in the Burnett farmstead in Brookhaven, L.I., NY. Dated Aug. 2,1999.

"...I did talk with Bob Starke today, due to a passing remark from a friend who suggested that Bob used to work for Theron.  Sure enough, that was true.  Bob is a very nice gentleman who lived in Brookhaven until he was in 3rd grade, then went to Brooklyn, then came back to Brookhaven and has stayed forever. He was born in 1916. He worked for Theron for awhile (I don't know exactly when), and said that Theron and Ike (Isaac) both bachelors, lived in this house with a maid, a Miss Green.  He remembers when there was no electricity here, but later on the house was electrified. He also remembers the bam that used to be here. He said they raised Holsteins and put up hay.  Theron was a bay man, and Bob worked for him for 50 cents a day.  Theron fished and crabbed and had eel pots. Bob said he was busy year round.  Bob also said that he was the last bayman on this bay without a motor.  He thinks they both lived here until they died.  He like Theron alot...kept saying he was quite a guy..."
