He was also a Revolutionary soldier, being present at the battle of Yorktown, and at the surrender of Cornwallis. Washington once tested his fidelity as a guard by attempting to pass him in the night, but he would not allow him to pass, and afterward received commendations for his fidelity. He was then known and received his pension under the name of Currin.
